Code Management

I put my paramedic students through a fun little simulation today.  I set up a cardiac arrest scene in the lab complete with all of the cables, trash, and space issues normally found in a code.  The only thing I didn't add was the wet stuff.  The objective was to see if the teams would be able to manage all of the mess and be able to get the patient off of the floor, on the tretcher and out the door safely.  They also had to manage sharps.
I also included problems for them to find.  2 of the teams had a tourniquet left on one of the IV arms and the other two teamshad the tube holder was unscrewed.  They all did better than I expected.
